Bihar Teachers Regularization of Contract Teachers -
Patna: An apex body of primary teachers in Bihar government schools on Monday staged demonstration in Patna in protest against the "repressive measures" of the state government against contractual teachers for protesting during the Chief Minister's 'Adhikar Yatra' in the districts.
Leaders of Bihar Rajya Prathmik Shikshak Sangh (BRPSS) sat on a dharna at R-Block in Patna to express solidarity with the contractual teachers and to oppose alleged repressive measures like termination of services of some teachers for participating in the stir during the Chief Minister's tour.
"Primary teachers body will not tolerate the stringent action by the state government against the contractual teachers who have been agitating for a just demand like regularisation of service and parity in salaries and perks with regular teachers," BRPSS president Mrityunjaya Prasad Sharma Sharma said.
Demanding withdrawl of orders for sacking of some contractual teachers within 15 days, he said that about 73,000 regular teachers will resort to agitation if their demand was not met.
Sharma also demanded that the state government should implement equal pay for equal work for the primary teachers too.
Contractual teachers had demonstrated before the Chief Minister in several districts during his 'Adhikar Yatra' to demand parity in salaries and allowances with regular teachers.
The state government had lodged FIRs against some protesting teachers and initiated disciplinary actions against hundreds of such teachers.
